February. For me, February is that hump to get through the winter season before (hopefully) spring arrives. This month is also the time for the holiday of love… Valentine’s day.
I know for a fact, sometimes we ladies tend to put a lot of pressure on our men to achieve the ultimate romantic night. It’s the roses, the chocolates, and the romantic music playing in the background in a low-lit restaurant. All these things are wonderful and can be expensive.
While this may fit as the stereotypical key to romance, it may not be much love for your wallet or originality for that matter. Luckily, Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be an expensive holiday. I have also been a firm believer that romance is best on being genuine, original and personal. And let’s face it last minute spontaneous could be the best!
Below are some great ideas for you to plan with your partner on the spot:
1. Have a spa day date
Need to relax and unwind? What better way then to do it with your partner? I know that you can go to bath stores to get rose scented bath bombs or bubble bath gel (I personally love Lush Handmade Cosmetic bath bombs). Have a sip of wine with your partner and take some time to reconnect that spark.
Products I recommend: Lush Bath Bombs ($4.95-$8.95)
2. Cooking for two
I personally love cooking. I find it relaxing, therapeutic and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. It can also be a great way to spend the night with your partner. Bond, spend time learning new things about each other (there’s always something new no matter how long you’ve been together), split the culinary duties.
As George Bernard Shaw said: “ There is no sincerer love than the love of food.
3. Check out a sexy art exhibit
I definitely have an appreciation for art and love sharing this passion with my partner. Exhibits usually do not cost much to get and I love that most places come with free or cheap drinks and finger foods. This is a perfect way to get in a sexy mood with your partner. It would be good to check your local news for events and exhibitions in your area.
4. Have a picnic
I always think of those vintage pictures with lovers at the park on a sunny afternoon. It is casual and enjoying the beautiful outdoors we tend to miss. Of course, if you’re in one of the colder states around this time of year, do a carpet picnic. Enjoy wines, hot cocoa and finger foods (a fireplace if you are indoors).
5. My last but favorite idea… Play Hooky! Spend the whole day together
Valentine’s day is Wednesday or hump day as some people call it. Sometimes it’s hard to think about romance with deadlines, busy noises, and meetings. I feel like people forget the most important things in life. Take a day off! Put those stressful thoughts aside and spend it with your partner. This could be the best time to look back on things together and show your love for each other.
